… Keep your skin beautiful and healthy during Winter
- help it to restore the protective hydro lipid barrier
- protect and balance your skin
- moisturize, moisturize and again moisturize
- provide protection against UV-light
The first step is to rethink your skin care routine and skin care products you normally use.
1. Go Easier - on daily cleansing and alcohol containing skin care in the winter. Choose a lighter non-stripping cleansing solution:
We recommend Dermalogica’s Ultra Calming Cleanser R 482 for 500ml
2. Peel Deal – if you are a fan of daily peeling products, it is advisable to change your routine for winter and to do a course of 6 – 12 peelings over 12 weeks.
Speak to us for our range of peeling products and treatments.
3. Go Heavier on Moisturizer - look for heavier moisturizing products to use in winter. We try using day creams for protection and night creams to help restore your skins’ moisture levels.
We recommend Nimue …. Day and Night Creams, Prices range between R272 – R457. Contact the salon for more information.
4. Timing is important – apply your moisturizer at least 30 min to an hour before going outside.
5. Hot Bubbly Escapes – are not recommended. Take shorter showers and baths and use warm water instead of steamy hot. Hot water removes the skins’ natural oils more quickly than warm or cold water.
6. Nobody Cancelled Sun Protection - up to 80% of the sun’s rays can penetrate light clouds, snow and fog. Protect your skin: Even on cloudy days slap on that sunscreen. Use a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of a least 15.
We recommend Nimue SUN C SPF 20 with added Vitamin C Anti-Oxidant Protection, R196
7. Get Sharp about Shaving – shaving can leave your skin irritated, especially when it’s already dry. Try using professional shaving products, change the blades regularly and always try to shave in the direction that hair grows.
We recommend Dermalogica Professional Shave for Men, R 191
8. Soothing Chapped lips – lips don’t have oil glands, so they can dry out especially easily. For lip protection, look for a lip balm with a SPF in it to help prevent chapped lips.
We recommend Nimue Hydro Lip Therapy, R 73
These quick skin care tips should help keep your skin happy all winter long. But if you find you still have dry skin, or your skin gets worse, give the Urban Spa a call.
